Umzug inkl. Update von 1.3 auf 2.0

Hallo,

habe eine Frage zu meinem 1.3 Portal (Bauforum):

Ich möchte mittelfristig auf einen anderen Server. Das würde sich ja eventuell mit einem Upgrade auf 2.0 gut machen. Könnte ich quasi auf der neuen Domain das 2.0 erstmal installieren und dann die ganzen relevanten Sachen "rüberziehen" (SQL Tables, Verzeichnisse). In der momentanen Versionen sind leider auch ein paar Mods die nicht laufen. Das würde ich dann eben auch versuchen sauber hinzubekommen bevor ich die Domain komplett umschalte.

Also letztendlich die Frage nach Möglichkeit und zu erwartendem Aufwand.

Also erstmal sei gesagt, das IPB 2.0.0 ist Momentag in einer Beta Phase - also nicht für den Normalen Foren Betrieb geeignet (wurde aber auch schon einige male hier im Forum geschrieben). Dann, wenn du Irgendwann mal auf 2.0.0 Updatest, kannst du das auch noch machen, wenn du auf dem neuen Webspace bist.

Ich würde also erstmal beim 1.3.x bleiben, und später dann auf 2.0.0 Updaten, wenn denn die Final Version herraus gekommen ist. Und sowieso gibts zur Zeit auch noch garkein Update Script von 1.3.x auf 2.0.0. ;)

der aufwand wird ned anders sein, als jedes update beim ipb.

du wirst allerdings die alten tabellen deines 1.3er dort brauchen, wo du es auf 2.0 updaten willst.

will heißen: du wirst noch am alten space updaten müssen, und die dateien/tables auf den neuen space kopieren müssen. anschließend die pfade in der conf_global.php anpassen, und das wars.

alternativ spielst dein jetziges 1.3er auf den neune space, und updatest dann dort. wie auch immer ...

wie das alles genau ablaufen wird, werden wir dann sehen, wenns mal eine beta des 2er geben wird, und matt das 1. updatescript fürs 2er bereit stellt.

aber derzeit ist sowieso alles nur mal theorie.

speziell, nachdem grundlegende funktionen noch nicht mal brauchbar arbeiten (ich krieg beim spielen mit dem pdr4 des 2er-forums mehr sql-errors als sonst was).

matt hat da noch sehr viel zu tun ... wird also noch länger brauchen, bis eine final des 2er raus kommt, meiner meinung nach.

Danke schon mal für eure Hilfe.

Klar ist das 2.0 noch nicht fertig, aber momentan komme ich eh nicht dazu ein update zu fahren. Bin auch erst mal froh das es nun soweit ganz gut läuft (bis auf diesen Arcade Mod der ja keine Berechtigung anerkennt.. ).

Meine Idee war nur eventuell damit zu warten um alles in einem Abwasch zu machen.

Würde dir empfehlen, erstmal das 1.3 auf dem neuen Space zu Installieren, Später dann zu Updaten.

Für Kunden steht bereits das IPB PF 1 (RC 1) zur Verfügung, ansatzweise wird dort schon von einem Update 1.xx auf 2.xx gesprochen .. ich trau mich aber noch nicht.

We've just released IPB PF 1 (RC 1) to the customers area only.

This is the first officially supported release and comes with the IPB 1.(1,2,3) to IPB 2.0.0 upgrade scripts. Although this is the first supported release, it's still not 'final' so you should expect a few minor bugs and skin errors.

Here comes the bold bit(s)...

If you want a smooth an painless upgrade from your IPB 1 board, either submit an upgrade request or wait for the final release with a totally bug free upgrader

Invision Gallery

We are also waiting on some final tests on the Invision Gallery 1.2 (IPB 2.0.0 compatible version) so your current gallery will not work with IPB 2.0.0. Josh will announce when his new version is ready and tested.

Edit by Josh: You can now upgrade your gallery as well, download the 1.2.0 RC1 release from your client center. There are instructions included on upgrading your gallery.

Invision Chat

We are waiting on some last minute tests on the Invision Chat integration. Initial tests seem to indicate that it works fine, but we've yet to get good feedback on the "Who's chatting" system which was so problematic in previous versions. We recommend that you wait for the "all clear" before upgrading to IPB 2.0.0 if you use Invision Chat heavily.

Large Boards

If you have a large board you wish to upgrade (+500,000) you may wish to submit a ticket to ask for advice and a tailored plan for upgrading you. We are looking at creating shell and perl versions of the upgrader to overcome the shortcomings of a PHP script. Although there is no 'heavy' data conversion, there are some large table changes and index changes.

Boards with more than 300 forums should wait until we have a resolution for the caching problems some have reported with large numbers of forums.

Requesting an upgrade

As a registered customer you are entitled to an upgrade performed by a member of staff. Please submit the upgrade request via the client center (Client Center -> Purchased Services -> Invision Power Board -> [Click on Order ID]). Please make sure we have your up-to-date FTP information to speed up the process. Please expect a delay for the first week or so as we cope with the initial demand.

Upgrading Instructions

If you are upgrading from 1.(1,2,3) and wish to perform the upgrade yourself, full instructions can be found inside the 'Documents' folder of the download archive. PLEASE READ THEM! And never underestimate the security of making a back up of your database before performing an upgrade.

The final word

As mentioned previously - this is the first supported release, but it's not quite at 'final' stage yet. If you want a smooth painless experience, wait for the 'final' release - especially if you're upgrading a busy 1.x board.
