  11. All versions of IP.Board since 2.0.0 through 2.1.7 contain an SQL Debug tool which allows board administrators to view the database queries the software is performing. This is useful in diagnosing problems or learning how a specific area of the software transacts its database functions. While the SQL Debug tool is very useful, leaving it enabled when not in use poses a significant security risk. By design, the tool displays all data passing between our software and your database and therefore a malicious user could view potentially sensitive data and use that data to gain unauthorized access. It is important the SQL Debug tool is disabled when not in use. To disable the SQL Debug tool go to your Admin CP, then Tools and Settings, and General Configuration. You will find an option called Enable SQL Debug Mode. Verify this is set to No. Also, verify Debug Level is set to 0 (zero) and save the settings on this page. Note that the SQL Debug tool is not enabled in a standard installation by default. Unless you have specifically enabled it you do not have to worry about this issue though we still suggest you verify it is disabled. The upcoming release of IP.Board 2.2.0 requires a change to a source file to enable IN_DEV mode in the software for the debug tool to operate. This change eliminates the possibility an administrator could accidentally enable debug mode. Other changes to the software also make this type of issue less of a problem. 15. IPB 2.1.x Low Risk Security Update It has come to our attention that a relatively low risk XSS attack can be performed on an administrator in IPB 2.1.x. For this XSS attack to take place, the malicious user must store an avatar on their server that appears to be a legitimate image file but is actually a script that is set to redirect the browser to another location. The administrator must have 'root' access and must load the avatar in the ACP by searching for the member in the ACP's "Search Member" form. Even though the XSS attack requires a very specific sequence of events, we consider that it's worth performing this security update. The security update is only a single ACP file which removes the user's avatar from displaying in the search results page. IPB 2.2.0, currently nearing release candidate status has increased security in the ACP which means this attack would not be successful. To update your installation, simply download the attached file and upload the file "sources/action_admin/member.php" over the one currently used by your installation. 16. [IPS] IPB 2.1.7 Security Update (Low Risk)

    Manual Update Instructions Edit the file 'sources/action_admin/member.php'. Line 3456 $joined = $this->ipsclass->get_date( $r['joined'], 'JOINED' ); $people .= <<<EOF <td width='{$td_width}%' align='left' class='$class'> Add above it: $avatar = "<img src='{$this->ipsclass->skin_url}/images/memsearch_head.gif' border='0' />"; $joined = $this->ipsclass->get_date( $r['joined'], 'JOINED' ); $people .= <<<EOF <td width='{$td_width}%' align='left' class='$class'> IPB 2.1.7 Security Update - Medium Priority It has come to our attention that due to the way some browsers interpret image tags a vulnerability exists which allows a malicious user to perform an XSS attack by forcing an "onerror" event in the snapback tag. To update your board, simply download the attached ZIP file, unarchive it and upload 'sources/classes/bbcode/class_bbcode_core.php' over the one on your server. If you wish to patch your board manually, please read the second post in this announcement. The main download has been updated as of the time of this announcement. Note: IPB 2.2.0 (all versions) are NOT affected by this vulnerability. Manual Patch Instructions for "sources/classes/bbcode/class_bbcode_core.php" Function "regex_check_image", line 924: Change: $default = "[img=".$url."]"; To: $default = "[img]".str_replace( '[', '&# 091;', $url )."[/img]"; Change: if ( preg_match( "/[?&]/", $url) ) To: if ( preg_match( "/[?&\<\[]/", $url) ) Function "post_db_parse_bbcode", Line 486 Change: preg_match_all( "#(\[$preg_tag\])((?!\[/$preg_tag\]).+?)?(\[/$preg_tag\])#si", $t, $match ); To: preg_match_all( "#(\[$preg_tag\])((?!\[/$preg_tag\]).+?)?(\[/$preg_tag\])#si", $t, $match ); if ( $row['bbcode_tag'] == 'snapback' ) { $match[2][$i] = intval( $match[2][$i] ); }

  23. IPBSupport Downtime

    Hallo Zusammen, das Forum läuft nun wieder, keine Daten sind verloren - alles ist beim alten. Ich möchte mich nochmal für den ca. zwei tägigen Ausfall entschuldigen. Gute Grüße, Helge
  24. This post outlines the steps required to update your IPB 2.1.x for this security update. If you've downloaded IPB 2.1.7 since the time of this post, there is no need to update your installation as the main download has been updated. It has come to our attention that Invision Power Board 2.1.x contains an issue in the threaded view mode allowing malicious users to access posts outside the topic. This security update has a full version number of: 21013.60810.s. Please read our KB article on how to locate your full version number. Invision Power Board 2.1.7 Updated File If you are currently version 2.1.7, please upload the attached file to sources/lib directory. This is the only updated file. If you are using a version prior to 2.1.7 it is suggested you upgrade to the latest version to ensure the proper function of your software. http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...e=post&id=10207 Quelle: http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?showtopic=225755
